Welcome to Barama College
Barama College, the premier institute of higher education in the vast Baksa area came into being on the eve of 5th Feb 1971. It is situated at a distance of 85 km away from the Gauhati University and 35 km. away to the north of the foothill of Bhutan, The co-educational institution had started its glorious journey of imparting education with one year pre- university programme in Arts at Barama High School premises. It was in 1973, the College was shifted to its present permanent site and in the same year Bachelor of Arts programme was introduced to synchronize the development of the stream.
There is no denying the fact that the coming of Barama College was the result of the untiring efforts, great zeal and tremendous self-sacrifice of toiling masses under the able leadership of Late Surendra Nath Das, the MLA of 62 Barama (ST) LAC. Then it was of Sri Satish Chandra Das, the founder principal, under whose guidance the college had received first government aid in 1978 under Deficit Grants-in-aid system and accordingly the college is now managed by a Governing Body. In the year 2005, the college was provincialized alongwith other 188 colleges by the Govt. of Assam.
Keeping the increasing importance of science education in view, the college started science programme in 1992 and it initiated the Bachelor of Science in the year 1994. It was in the year 2013, the Science Stream of the college was provincialised under Assam Venture Educational Institute (Provincialisation of Services) Act 2011 and amended in 2012. It was in 2004 the college faced the assessment of NAAC and was accredited B+ Grade with 78.65 percentage of marks.

Rules and Regulations
a. The student shall abide by the rules and regulations of the college for maintenance of discipline.
b. For the violation of rules and regulation s, students shall be liable to disciplinary action.
c. Under the guidance and control of the college authority the Barama College Students union Society shall run.
d. The student must come to the college with proper uniform. The Uniform is as follows.
i. For non tribal girls : Mekhela(Muga Colour) Chadar with surf colour pati .
ii. For Bodo Girls : Dakhna (green colour) with golden gunapari.
